Our story

Three decades of advancing sterile services in Malaysia.

We started as a small group of CSSD nurses who believed Malaysia needed a dedicated home for sterile services practice. Since then, we've grown into a national community united by education, shared standards, and a commitment to safer patient care.

Why we exist

Our mission & vision

Mission

To advance the practice of sterile services across Malaysia's health care industry, so every member has the training, standards, and support they need to protect patients.

Vision

A Malaysia where sterile services professionals are recognised, well-trained, and united by standards that meet the world's best.

Our journey

Key milestones

1990

An idea takes shape

At the World Sterilization Conference in Singapore, Malaysian sterile services staff first envision an association of their own.

1995

We come together

Inspired by the Amsterdam Sterilization Conference, CSSD nurses from Hospital Kuala Lumpur, University Hospital, and Hospital Sungai Buloh form our founding protem committee, led by Pn. Wan Muji Wan Ngah, alongside Pn. Hasnah Jalil, Pn. Yeoh Saw See, Pn. Noormah Hj. Hashim, and Pn. Rohani Ahmad.

1996

MSSA is officially registered

The Registrar of Societies approves our association, and we begin with 38 founding members.

Today

A thriving national community

We now support over 1,142 members: nurses, technicians, engineers, doctors, and corporate partners — across Malaysia and beyond.
